Apply for Positions in the National ASA

The National African Students Association, LLC is an organization committed to excellence, professionalism, and devotion to the progress of the African continent.  We are determined to accept leaders into our organization who demonstrate the potential to be an asset to our organization and the African continent.

To be considered for a leadership role, please complete the application form and other supplementary materials. Once information is received, we will contact you to let you know whether you will be having an interview to go to the next phase.

Qualifications:

  • Student must be in good academic standing.  We ask that applicants have a 3.0 GPA or above and if not, please explain this below.
  • Student should be an active member of their local African student group, if one exists, and have held some leadership role in some capacity in that, or another, student group on their campus.  If student is currently not active in their African student group but would like to be a part of the National ASA, please explain your reason for inactivity below.  If an interested applicant has had no leadership experience, please indicate this below.  These will be handled on a case by case basis.
  • To apply for the National Board, applicants must be enrolled in an institution of higher learning.

Recommendations:

To apply for Board positions, you will need to send in at least one letter recommendation. These recommendations can be about one page or more.

  • Recommendations can come from a Faculty Member, Group Advisor, Staff, Co-worker, or Community Member/ Elder, or African student group member. No recommendations from relatives.
  • For National Board positions, especially President, Vice President, Director of Communication, and Director of Finance, please send in two recommendations. One being from the Executive Board or Advisor of your African Student Group and the other a person being of your choosing.
  • Recommendations must demonstrate individual’s potential for leadership, dedication and commitment, diligence, teamwork capacity, and why they would be a positive contribution to the National ASA.

Tips for Successful Process:

  • Do not be intimidated  by the application process!
  • Check your email regularly in case we need some information from you or would like to schedule an interview.
  • Use spell check and grammar check on your application, as such things will count against you.
  • Give the email subject the appropriate title to ensure appropriate processing.
  • During the interview, be ready to answer standard interview questions and be knowledgeable about the organization.
