Crystal Nnenne Azu

Crystal Nnenne Azu is a Senior at Emory University and originally from Abiriba, Abia State, Nigeria. She plans to attend medical school after her undergraduate career and pursue a dual degree (MD/MPH) in hopes of becoming an Interventional Cardiologist. During her second and third years of college, Nnenne was the President of the African Students Association at Emory University and has a deep passion for the betterment of the African continent and restructuring the misconceptions generally held about Africa. Nnenne has been very active on her college campus, singing in the gospel choir, tutoring disadvantaged youth in Chemistry and being a part of planning committees for various campus activities. She also performs 'spoken word' for audiences in Atlanta and hopes to empower people through her words and lifestyle to change the world in which they live. With the opportunity to be the National President comes much responsibility, but Nnenne has a vision and drive to lead National ASA through a successful year.

Edward Baffoe

Edward Baffoe hails from the West African nation of Ghana where he undertook his undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Ghana. Upon completion of his Bachelors’ degree, he served as a teaching and research assistant with the Department of Psychology, University of Ghana. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Edward aims at obtaining a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a focus in behavioral neuroscience. He also has a longing to help improve the lives of people in deprived communities and to contribute towards a just, more equitable, peaceful, and sustainable world through research and intellectual enterprise. Serving on the Executive board of the National ASA, he hopes to bring with him a great deal of experience including those gained from his position as the former Educational Chair of Millersville University’s ASA. Edward shares in the dream of Nelson Mandela – “an Africa which is in peace with itself.”

Cynthia Adi

Cynthia Adi is a senior at Emory University where she is double majoring in International Studies and African Studies. For the past two years Cynthia has been a volunteer with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she assists refugee families with the adjustment to life in America. In the summer of 2008, Cynthia interned with a woman's organization in Nicaragua and drafted and implemented a project aimed at promoting the human rights of young girls at risk for sexual exploitation. During here junior year, Cynthia studied abroad with the School for International Training (SIT) in Uganda. While in Uganda, Cynthia interned with a woman's organization and conducted research on the impact of female legislatures on women's human rights in Uganda. Upon graduation from Emory, Cynthia plans to attend Law School, where she will study international law, international human rights, and immigration law. Cynthia is a member of the National ASA because she believes that it is important for young Africans in the diaspora to be keenly aware of the issues that challenge Africa and for young Africans to share their vision for Africa with one another.
