Emory University – Atlanta, Georgia to Host Inaugural National African Students’ Association Conference, March 19-21, 2010

The Inaugural National Conference will be held March 19-21, 2010 at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia hosted by the African Students Association. The theme of the conference shall be “Placing an African Face on African Development,” and it will feature workshop speakers such as Dr. Michael Nwanze (Economist, Howard University), Dr. Nnedi Okorafor (Author and Professor, Chicago State Universit) and Dr. Sidat Yaffa (Research Agronomist, SLS Consulting).  Students will also be able to network with companies and organizations in search of African youth for various opportunities, as well as with their peers in student groups around the country.

The National African Students’ Association National Conference was created to assemble university students from the African Diaspora into a coalition for the progress of the African continent. This is one of the largest networking opportunities for African students who attend colleges and universities around the United States. The official conference hotel will be the Hampton Inn of North Druid Hills Atlanta. Web registration for the conference will be available from November 9th, 2009 until the 12th of March, 2010.  Schools may register as groups and all individuals, whether in a university or not, are invited.

Through its conferences, National A.S.A. seeks to empower and unite its members while creating service opportunities to foster progress on the African continent. It is the aim of the conference that members will use the information garnered at this conference to develop into the African leaders we are all charged to be.

The National A.S.A. continually works to equip young African men and women with the tools necessary for them to become forces of change. The National ASA exists to unify African student groups in universities across the US. Through this synergy they strive to empower themselves, create networking opportunities and encourage outreach to Africa. These students have assembled because they believe it is time for the African Diaspora to take the success of the African continent into their own hands.

    Hello,

I’m the President and Artistic Director of Lamb To A Lion Productions, a production company that creates and tours plays that represent that stories of under-represented people like US. I’m of Ghanaian descent and will be attending the National African Student Association Conference in March.

I would like you to visit our site at http://www.lambtoalion.com and check out our current production, “Love, Life & Redemption”, which is packed with emotionally compelling stories and inspirational themes. One of the highlights is a scene that defiantly addresses the Amadou Diallo murder in New York City.

I spoke on an Entrepreneurship panel at the National Black Student Association annual conference and would love to be involved in the National African Student Association Annual conference.

Please contact me at lambtoalion@yahoo.com about sponsorship/speaking opportunities. Thank you!
