Outreach/Partner Programs
United Nations World Food Program
The World Food Program is the largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. As a world organization, their goals are to use food aid to support economic and social development; meet refugee and other emergency food needs, and the associated logistics support; and promote world food security in accordance with the recommendations of the United Nations and FAO. The National African Students Association is partnering with the UN World Food Program to fight against hunger and help in alleviating the conditions of the 1 in 6 people around the world who are starving and suffering from hunger. Through this partnership, the National ASA hopes to raise awareness about hunger, especially on the continent of Africa. Colleges and Universities in addition to member student groups around the country are welcome to connect to the National ASA in order to present a united front against hunger.
Empowered by Numbers Campaign (in Partnership with Census 2010)
The “Empowered by Numbers Campaign” (referred to as the EBN Campaign) is a new project headed by the National African Students Association to promote the U.S. Census 2010 across the African student population. Because the Census 2010 data effects critical decisions, involving issues such as Congressional representation and allocation of more than $300 billion annually in federal funding, the National ASA will also embark in engaging all affiliate African organizations. The National ASA encourages all students to fill out the 2010 Census.
