On August 16th, 2008, those in attendance at the national planning committee meeting unanimously elected the 1st national executive board.

Over the summer of 2008, interested universities nominated representatives to the national planning committee. Together, this group laid the ground work for the new organization by creating goals, a mission statement and a constitution. At the end of the summer of 2008, members of the founding committee elected the first National A.S.A. Executive Board.
